My wife has a very hard time racking back the slide on her 226 .40S&W.  Any one know how to make it easier for her?  If I shoot the hell out of it, will it make it easier?

Thanks

It will get a *little* bit easier over time, but maybe not enough if it is really uncomfortable for her now.

You may want to look into a different model for her.

Have you had her cock the hammer before pulling the slide?  I had this problem with my wife concerning any gun she shoots.  She wasn't interested in shooting any gun she couldn't pull the slide on.  I had her cock the hammer on her 232 before pulling the slide and that made things easier for her.  Also women aren't as strong as us in most cases and they also don't hold the guns in a way for the best leverage.  You may want to watch her positioning when she pulls the slide.

Tell her to try holding the slide and and pushing with her grip hand rather than cycling the slide with her non dominant hand.  Just get a good over the top four fingers grip with the non dominant side and push it.  This has worked better for some women.

Hip thrust. Most women have excellent lower body strength. Have her hold her arm tight to her hip while gripping the 226. While pushing the slide back with her weak hand she can thrust her stongisde hip and arm essentially pushing the frame.
