picked up a 226 and i'd like to use a thigh rig. i've read through and used the links above in the "holster" section. does anyone have opinions on which are good for their price points? i'm no mechanic or operator, but i would like one that is easy use and reliable. i've noticed things like clasps that are quick to attach to a belt snap/clasp and/or snaps for attachment around the thigh. they look they would work for me, but i wanted to see if you folks had opinions as such. also, are models with mag pouches on the rig a good way to go? i'd rather not have another piece on the other side to strap on. if i opt to compete or move forward in another fashion i'd buy a purpose built rig. i'm using this as a means to hold my sidearm away and low from my belt on one side while my knife and tools are on the other side as i work in my timber, farms, etc. it isn't going to see serious use, but it does need to be of quality. anybody have a recommendation? i ask because i'm looking at pics of these things and to the untrained folk they appear very similar but the price ranges span from $60 to $250... any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks, ST13 |

I have a serpa that I use for my 220carry that works, and I have a couple of safarilands that I like as well. Honestly if I could get a safariland holster on a blackhawk platform I think I would like the combo the best. As to pouches, I normally run a small fixed blade on the leg shroud, and sometimes a multitool. I don't like a mag there, cause it is hard to reach the mag with the off hand. |
Go with the Safariland 6004. They come in colors also. If you get one on the EE in black just paint it. I have seen them on here (EE) as cheap as $50.00 up to $150.00 new at online stores.
