What do ya use to clean & lube your Sig's??

I've got a 239 and a 229 & have always used CLP on everything & am wondering how it will work out using CLP on Sig's.

I tend to not believe that there is a single product that can clean lubricate and protect all in one.  Can it really do all well?  Armalite has a good technical paper on this issue , Also check out their tech paper on alternative lubes and cleaners, they talk about using automatic transmission fluid for cleaning and cooking oil for lube.  Personally I us a synthetic 5w-30 motor oil for lubricating  and Hoppe's #9 solvent for cleaning all of my firearms.  I don't see what the difference would be between lubricating a Sig vs. a Smith or Springfield or even an AR...  I am sure someone here will find a flaw in my ways, but hey, I have been doing this for over 10 years with great sucess.

I use outers gun oil and breakfree clp.  Never had a problem with it.

I use MPro7 or Hoppes #9 as a solvent.

To lube, I use a combination of both grease and oil.  I put a light coat of grease (Militec Grease or Mil-comm TW-25B) on the frame rails.  I also put a drop of oil (Militec-1 or Breakfree CLP) on the fram rail as a floater.  I use oil according to the manual, and dry off any excess.

I started using both grease and oil after being told that SIGs like to run a little wet.  So far, I'd have to agree with that.

Interesting, never knew Sig's liked to be a tad wet.

Hummmm, I've got about a gallon of LSA in tins & just never liked that stuff. Might have to see about trying it out on the pistols

i use grease (usually rock shox judy butter) on the rails and parts that contact, and CLP, Rem Oil, or Militec on the springs and pins.

Like "Portland_Pistolero" I too don't believe in a single product for both tasks.  WilsonCombat makes a cleaner/lube combo pack called Ultima-Lube.  The combo pack includes a grease syringe, an oil syringe and a bottle of bore solvent.  A friend turned me on to it and it works great.

Slip 2000 is really good stuff! Their cleaners and oils IMHO are the best to be had.

I was told by a SIG rep that Sig is now using SLIP 2000 at the factory.

There are more gun lubes available than the time and money I would need to try them all. Sigs are definitely wet guns. I just put 500 rounds through my P220 during a one day school. I cleaned it with MPro 7 and lubed it with MPro CLP. This combo worked well. I have shot the same class/gun/ammo combo after lubing it with regular CLP. It cooked off and had to be re applied. Same thing with FP-10. I like the M-Pro products. They perform well and are non toxic.

Having said all that, I recently dretailed another P220 and lubed it with XF-7. This is available through Brownells for about $10. It is a grease and is also non toxic. It worked very well and, unlike the oil, stays put. It makes cleaning the weapon very easy if you apply it properly. Just wipe off the powder residue and other junk and reapply the XF-7. I need to test this stuff a bit more but it may very well be the only thing I use in the future.

SiGARMS recommends using a high quality gun grease, and even sells their own brand.  FWIW.

That must be what's in the little tube that came with the 229.

Have not opened it yet as it's a one time use kind of tube & not something that ya can seal back up to keep from leaking.
