| My Father bought a Sig 229 and a Sig 220, the 220 with 8rounds in either mag it came with will jam. It's not letting the slide cycle if you have one in the pipe and have 8rds in the mag, the last round has no give what so ever. |
| You have made certain that they are, in fact, 8 rd. magazines and not just 7's that happen to barely take another round? I have no experience with Sig 8 rounders as all the mags I use with my 220s are 7 rd. I assume your dad's mags work fine when loaded with 7 each? |
ya for mine it was the ammo..... once i put decent ammo in and brand new mags it never jammed |
it's def 8 rounders, it jammed with ra45tp . They work great with 7rounds, but when you put 8 rounds in the mag and cycle the pistol, the round that is stripped off dents the round that is next with it's rim. He says that when it's loaded with 8 rounds it's extremly hard to insert the magazine(to where it locks). It's extremly difficult to cycle the slide when fully loaded, and I've tried it too and it is. The spring doesnt look like it could compressed anymore than it is, so the follower might be out of spec. Anyone have an extra follower I could by to test it out?

| Our department just bought over 300 brand new Sig 220 pistols with 8 round mags. We very quickly began having malfunctions with them and everything pointed to the magazine. We called Sig and they said "Oh yeah we are having some problems with the mags we will send you some new ones". Yeah thanks for telling us about the problem Sig, they are only our primary weapon!!! Well after they sent us about 1200 new redisigned magazines were are having fewer issues with them. ---I wish we went with Glock. |
| Sig's "New" mags come with detents in the top rear corners on each side. This supposidly keeps the top round from stripping off the top of the mag when loading. Don't count on Sig to let you know there is a problem you have to tell them about it over and over before they will finally agree to it. |

In an older 220 the 8 rounders would lock the slide back with almost every round fired. I traded them back for 7 rounders and never had a problem again. 8 rounders worked fine in my brothers gun. I am not sure how to date them, but my gun had the front sight that was a milled part of the slide. Others are a dovetail mount. Dump the 8s. |
I have found Glock and Oly Arms to be the same way, FWIW. Both were willing to take the guns for inspection, however. Glock tends to give you free parts and not admit there was a problem, so it is sort of OK. |
