I only have two 12-rounders for my P229 in .40 s&w. One of the mags will usually not lock the slide back when I pull it back manually. When actually shooting the thing, however, both mags lock the slide back when they are empty. I tried manually stretching the spring out a little bit, didn't really help much.

Is this normal?

You did what? I wouldn't trust my life to a manually stretched spring. Buy replacement springs, check your follower for defects, and make sure you aren't riding the slide release when firing the Sig.

I had a P220R that did that with the 8rd mags that come with it but would lock back on the older 7rd mags when the slide was pulled back manually. Everything checked out fine it was just one of those things.

That's what I figured I should do (any personal reccomendations for places to buy new springs?)

Took it out to the range today, sort of odd....either mag would occasionally not lock back. I know for a fact that I wasn't touching the slide release, and I wasn't limp wristing either. I even purposely limp-wristed horribly and they locked back fine every time. It was just once in a while either one would not want to lock back. Weird.

Thanks.

Call Sig and let us know what they say. Good luck!

Thanks for that link.

It occured to me just now that all certified pre-owned sigs (what mine is) have a one-year warranty on them. I don't think it covers normal (high)-cap mags, but it's worth a shot to call them I guess.
