Are P226 & P228 magazines interchangeable?

The P226 mags look very similar to the Beretta 92 mags.  Are they interchangeable?

Well, one could use the 226 magazines in a 228 but not the other way around.

No, the 92 mag will not function in a Sig.

So, what other, if any, pistol's magazines are compatible with the P226?

Hmmm.....

A .40SW or .357Sig P226 can use ANY P226 magazine.  I THINK that a 9mm P226 can only use the 9mm mags due to the extra spacing on the feed lips of the larger caliber magazines.  However, I have successfully used 9mm mags in .357 P226's.

P228's can use P226(9mm) mags, but not the other way around.  Mecgar makes a +2 capacity flush fitting mag for 9mm P226's and P228's.  Sig mags an extended 20rd mag for either gun.  Don't know how many rounds of 40/357 it would hold, though presumably it would work.  A few others (Eagle, USA) make 30rd 9mm mags, though mostly reported as junky and unreliable.  Hope this helps!
