I have a P220 ST with trijicon's on it and it is a super-sweet firearm, however I was getting into IDPA matches and started looking into the Sig 226 in 9mm. I found a couple... one ST and one Tactical. I am considering the Tactical because it comes with night sights and is nitron. I'm thinking of trading the 220 on the Tactical to knock its somewhat steep price down. Has anyone toyed around with this model? I have fired 3 Sigs and I loved them all (even the Sig Pro). I have a 220 and had previously owned a 229 in .40. I'm wanting the 9mm for controllability and at the end of the day I'm not worry about "stopping power" when using +P rounds even in 9mm. I'm looking for something that is highly accurate, durable, and a pure pleasure to shoot. Anyone out there have the tactical with the threaded barrel? |
| This is kind of off the subject, but how did you like your P229? As far as the P226 in 9mm, everyone I know who owns one swears by them. One of my Chiefs has one that he got from a SEAL roughly several years ago. So this gun is USED and it still is reliable and accurate and he claims it has never malfunctioned. |
| The tactical has a special thread pitch that will not work with many suppressors. HOWEVER! AAC is running a special group buy for the Tactical thread pitch suppressors for a $200 discount on sigforums.com right now. If you really get the Tactical instead of the 226R with custom barrel in the future you may want to go there and sign up for the group buy suppressor. You have till the end of the month. Something to consider if you go Tactical instead of 226R plus custom barrel (which will have to use factory barrel for rules in some organisations since the custom barrel would be a length other than stock). |
