I have a 9mm 229r with the short extractor. It is a cpo gun that I have had for a few years, so out of warranty. Anyway, I don't shoot it much. It's definitely a nice gun, but 4th in line of preference to shoot when I go to the range. The last couple times I took it, I probably put 75 rounds through it total and have had 3 failures to extract.
I called Sig and they said I could send it in for $85 plus shipping and they would look at it. I asked about just having them send me an extractor and he said it would be about the same, which seems a bit out of line. I took out the extractor and it looks fine. However, I compare it to the picture of the same extractor on top gun supply (which calls it a "new style") and the pic looks as though it is actually hook shaped. Mine is not hook shaped (insert joke here), but flat. The price is $28. Do any of you know anything about these extractors and whether I need to replace with this new hook shaped part? Also, should I go ahead and replace the spring as well? It's $3, so Iam certain that I will, so not sure why I am even asking. Thanks for your help. |

When you take the extractor out it should feel like a kittens tooth when you pull your finger across it. If it doesn't it needs replacing. Do the spring while it's off.
Idk about "hook shaped". But this is what you seek http://grayguns.com/products/sig-sauer-p-series-short-external-extractor/ |
