What is with the gap and poor fitting on Sig P series front sights? I was looking at several new pistols and there is a gap between the front sight and the slide.

Well, I guess we know HK is shoddy too when it comes to front sight fit You're either trolling, or mentally challenged. Or both. Whoa there buddy, no need for personal attacks in a tech forum. Chill, please. Gun grabbers are the enemy, not guys like me who like nicer firearms than they are producing. All I said was I expect a better fit of the front sight to the frame. My older sigs did not have this problems and my 1911's which are *also* dove tailed have a decent fit. The Legion is one of Sig's flagship pistols, with a whole marketing campaign built around it, and I was just simply shocked to see the attention to detail lacking in the front sight fit. If you are cool with open tolerances like that, then go be cool in peace with it. |

That's the way they're made......the reason the front sights are flat on a Glock, is because they screw in.....look at almost every dovetailed front or rear sight......they have a minute amount of space so that they don't drag on the slide and scratch it during installation. Even the West German Sigs are like that. Exactly! It is done by design. Would you want your precious new pistol to have the finished removed just so that it is flush? |

The fit or friction holding the sight in place is in the dovetail. Whether the top of the sight fits snug against the slide or not is irrelevant. Unless the sight area is milled flat, the top part of the sight (bottom edge) is always going to see some sort of round top edge of the slide. People a whole lot smarter than we are designed it this way. For what it is worth, I trust them more.

Of course the dovetail holds the sight in place. I just like a little better fit and finish on my pistols. I figure if a company is not mindful of the stuff I can see, I have no reason to think they are mindful of the stuff I can not see.
If you are happy with that, that is awesome. I just expected more out of Sig than they are willing to provide at this time. Stay cool! |

You're making an issue out of nothing. It is about getting what I want. I like nice things. When I spend a thousand dollars on something, I expect the sights to be nicely fit to the slide. I am willing to pay more to have things done right, they just seem unwilling to do do it. Who knows, maybe with a front sight like that it snags on a thread, or as bad as that one is, a piece of 550 cord |
