Anyone have one of these? How is the trigger, basically the same as a standard 226? Is it just a SAO 226 with a beavertail? Any other special things about it: coated internals, etc?
I already looked at Sig’s website and it doesn’t say it has anything else, now SRT, no short trigger, no nothing. It runs ~$100-150 more than a standard 226 and was thinking it should have more than a beavertail and SAO. I’ve been getting away from DA/SA guns and have been looking forward to the 226 SAO for a while, but I might just have to stick with my 226 Combat. |

I have two Sig 220 Carry SAO's on order right now and I am dying to receive them. I wanted to get the 226 SAO but I read some reviews that indicated that they had issues and if you wanted 9mm SAO you had to go with an X5 which I would love to do but the price was just too much for a single gun IMO.
However those reviews may or may not be right. However just to be safe I went with 220 SAO's as reviews for them were across the board positive. Sorry if this wasn't a lot of help |
| I have one and it uses the same lower as the lightweight X5 except shorter, thus will not work with standard 226 grips. I like it, although I have fired only about 150rd or so thru it at this time. No problems or issues at all thus far, but I do realize 150rd is not any sort of 'test'. It does NOT use the same SAO system as the X5, but I have had no problems at all with the one it does use and the safety 'clicks' on and off fine...not mushy, etc. Trigger pull is, as you suspected, about the same as a standard P226 in SA, but I will have it worked on eventually and I'm sure it can be improved. As a 'street' trigger I suspect it would be fine after some wearing-in. It will, as will the P220, allow the slide to be operated while the safety is 'on'. |
