Today I picked up an older P226, date code JJ 1988. Looks like it has alotta rounds thru it. Its my first Sig.
The mag release is on the right or wrong side! Everything else is on the left. Is this how they are or is mine for a lefty? Can I switch it over the left side? I bought bcuz the trigger pull is great. Thank you |

Yes you can switch it back to the other side. Just make sure the left side release hole isn't messed up. Sometimes these are changed over to "left hand" release because someone has boogered up the area where the spring loaded tad snaps into the frame on the right side, keeping the release from being functional on its original side. I have seen this several times.
Just something to look for. |
| Yes it can be changed back to the left side., Someone set it up for a left handed shooter. It takes about one minute to switch it back but be careful. There is a small spring loaded pin with a relief step machined in it that keeps it in the frame and if it gets put in the wrong way it would need to go back to sig to be drilled out and fixed. It helps if you have one of the factory tools to aid in its removal and install. Find a local PD that carries sigs, the dept armorer should be able to do it for you if you ask nice. |
