I found a used 220 in a local shop. The slide is marked "MADE IN W.GERMANY" with the sig/exeter on the other side. The frame only has a serial number and some kind of proof stamp next to it.Is this an all German made pistol?

East and West Germany reunited in 1990 so for it to be marked W. Germany it had to be made before that.
I would say as long as the frame is origanal to the slide then, Yes it is a German made P220

This is not true.  My first two SIGs (220-1, 226) were German guns, purchased when I was stationed there in 1994 and 1995.  Both were made in the year purchased as they were ordered from the factory by the Volgeweh Rod and Gun Club.  Both were marked "Made in W. Germany" even though both were made after reunification.  SIG didn't change the rollmark until several years after the wall fell.

After SIG opened the plant in NH, there were some models which had German made slides and US made frames, the original P229 comes to mind.
