I walked in the coolest shop today. It is about 40 miles from my house. I was looking to see what they had in 1911 and as I was looking I come across a Sig 226 now Im not nor have I ever really been huge on hand guns so I really don't know what is and what aint. I am thinking of going back after a little reading. What I did know when I seen it is that it is a respected firearm. The price on it is 559 out the door it is used but very little wear on the end of the barrel. If I could get it for 500 otd would I be doing good? The guy is a dealer for sure and he would probably come down to that. Tell what does everyone think. Here is my thing I would be buying it to resale with that said could I make money on it? Or I am ready to go tomorrow and drop the cash on a new sig scorpion 45 to keep for my self. What do I look for on this gun to be sure I am getting a good deal or to make sure it is gtg. |
| Not saying you are wrong but the only 226s I have found under 500 bucks is the no rail old ones and .22s. I am not sure which model it is exactly but I am going to go look at it agine. He is a dealer and location and timing is everything. Right now the location isn't to bad but our area has the worst unemployment rate in all of GA and one of the worst in the country, so yeah maybe he can't get more out of it. |

If it is used, I would try to feel out the trigger, and check the frame rails for wear. I would also make sure it had the features I like such as, type of trigger, sights, no beaver tail, caliber. Ymmv
I would just get the .45 instead of trying to make money on the resale of the 226 |

Did you look on Gunbroker??? Try a search you can find them in the 5's Also technically buying a gun with the intent of reselling it to make a profit is illegal unless you have an FFL Sure you may slide through with no problems a few times but it will catch up to you. A friend recently got a visit as he had sold 25 guns over the past 6 mths but when he showed them they were his fathers who had recently passed they said it was OK but technically due to the # of guns and the time period they said he should have an FFL or have hired an FFL to handle the sales. So is it worth it for maybe 50 bucks? No.... |
