Summitgunbroker has some used P226s in stock for $450.
He's always done well by me, but I've only ever bought "new-ish" stuff from him, and am concerned about buying a P226 sight unseen - I don't want some clapped out pistol with slide rails damaged. Should I be concerned? Or is this not likely to be an issue? |

with him I do not think it will be an issue
also for the price this is not a bad deal at all. I have purchased several Gun's from him like you and he has always been great. If you do get it you may want to send it to SIG for the Service plan they will look it over and replace all the springs and such + you get a set of night sites for free |

There is pro's and con's to each. The Stainless is one piece, a bit heavier and some say stronger, the downside is that disassembly is a pita, the pin that holds in the firing pin is a one use only pin generally. The rolled slide has a separate breech block with an inner-outer pin system so disassembly is more user friendly, it's alleged that the rolled slide is considered the weaker of the two and that +p is not recommended. I have both and like both, but my favorite is my old W.German P220 with the rolled slide. |
| I have a German 226 with the rolled slide . They are built the German way overbuilt! They are considered to be the most reliable.Unless all you shoot is +p and nothing else you might have a problem.I know my 226 is very accurate and tight as a bank vault !It is a 94 production ke code. The Pistols summit has are triple serial num and police turn in.I would get the triple serial number 226 you will not have a problem. Then I would send the slide back to Sig and have it refinished. For the cost you cant beat it! |

Ok, so I figure I'll ask this here before I start a new thread.
I jumped on one of the stamped slide P226s from Summit. Is there anything that I should replace before shooting it? I can install the sights myself, and LOVE good holster wear, so I'm not too concerned about sending it in to SIG. I plan on putting a new recoil spring as it is, and probably a new mainspring and plug assembly so I can use newer grips. Anything else? Should I replace the roll pin for the breach block? |

Alright, so shot 100 rounds through it. Shoots great, hits point of aim, no malfunctions.
Looked at the interior of the slide rails, though...forgot to check there. About 50% of the andozing is either a real light copper or silver color. Now, I know this is "bad"...but this is going to be a shooter and nothing more for me. Accuracy isn't affected by the already loose slide/frame fit, so I doubt it'll get any worse. If I slather it up with grease, will this thing keep chugging for me? Or does frame rail wear actually mean catastrophic failure? Pictures to come! |
