Adopted an orphan 220 with an unknown but apparently cared for past. Sights are in need of replacement anyway.
Have any of you done this lately? Would you recommend? Sig Service Package – Detailed stripping and complete and thorough ultrasonic cleaning of the entire pistol. Professional safety inspection of critical components by factory certified personnel. Replacement of springs prone to wear ( trigger bar spring, slide catch lever spring, recoil spring) and any needed small parts. Then lubrication to factory standards, reassembly and function testing. ALSO INCLUDES THE FACTORY INSTALLATION OF SIGLITE NIGHT SIGHTS. (Not available for Mosquito, P230/232 models). $139.95 |

I bought a used 228 on Gunbroker a few months ago. Got it on a Thursday, shipped it to Sig for the full service package you described, plus the trigger upgrade the next morning.
Imagine my surprise when it came back the following Friday afternoon! This thing works great. The short reset trigger and action job is worth the money by itself. I now have a "new" 228 for about $220 less than a new one. Considering sending off the 220. Sig has a sale on this service for fathers day and sometimes just when they feel like it. Stay tuned. |
| The price is OK. Ultrasonic cleaning around here is $30.00. The springs are about $10.00. The sights can be had for $90.00 to $100.00. What blows this deal is the overnight shipping costs to SIG both ways ($30.00 to $40.00 each way.) I'd get an armorer to do the work locally for this basic type of job. |

Sig has a slightly cheaper option. From Sig's site: $55.00 VIP Round Trip S&H fee available to all complete firearm shipments on phone orders.
OP if you're P220 has the carbon steel slide, the slide pins and springs probably need replacing. If you don't have the tools/knowledge to do it yourself, I'd send it to Sig. |
