I have a 226R SCT and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I shoot it in ACTS matches and has become my nightstand gun as well. I usually carry a Kimber Pro Carry as a CCW gun, I like 45 and 1911's but...
I am becoming a 9mm guy My 226R is too big to CCW so I want the 229R, question is, how does it feel/fit/carry when compared to a 1911/Pro Carry? Can you believe that, I am succumbing to the dark side, 9mm (and I don't see the point to 40 nor do I want to spend a lot of money on bullets ie 357 sig, 9mm is cheap and as good).

I've carried both extensively in the past few years and I gotta say that a single stack gun is much easier to conceal than a double stack.
I use Comp-Tac holsters for my guns and currently I'm packing my tricked out P220 in the Comp-Tac rig. it's about as slim as you can get for a 45. The P229 being a double slack has a grip that's wider and slightly more noticeable than the P220, but if you're a big guy like me and dress properly, nobody will ever know you're packing 14 rounds or 40 cal Gold Dots. Placement of your gun is more critical than anything, I find that if I wear my gun just behind the forward point of my hip, it's extremely well concealed....so well that my GF has to touch my waist to see if I'm packin or not.
