I just picked up my 1st Glock and it's a Gen 4 G17.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the backstrap off.  Took the pin out but then I am stuck.

All the pictures in the manual and on the Internet make it look like it comes off from the top and kind of peals back until the bottom become unhooked.

The problem is that I can get the top to pull back without prying and I don't want to pry plastic.

Is there a trick to this?

The fit is so tight it barely looks likes it's removable.

The larger backstrap (medium and large) goes right over or on top of the one that is built into the grip. You just use the new and longer pin to secure the new strap onto the grip. The first one is not removable.
