I recently bought 100 9mm 124gn bullets that I thought were FMJ.  Turns out they're the plated crap.  And I paid more than I normally do for real FMJ. Oh well, better pay attention next time.

But has anyone shot plated through a factory barrel?  Develop any leading? Note that I don't load very hot at all.

Thoughts?

Plated bullets are actually really good.  They are cheap and the lead is completely encapsulated.  They just require a lighter crimp so the plating doesn't peel off.  Otherwise they are just fine.

plated bullets are great.  Gold Dots, for example, are plated.

just be sure your crimp is not too tight, don't cut the plating with the crimp...

I reload Rainer 165's for my Glock 22 and have not had any problems.  I have 500 147's that I plan to load up for 9mm subsonic fun.

I prefer plated to cheap FMJ's in my Glocks.

I've put a shitload of plated bullets through my stock Glock barrels.

They're fine.

I remember a few years ago there was some issue with 124 grain bullets from Berry's not working to well in Glocks for some reason or another but I have shot tons of plated bullets out of mine with no issues.

Berry plated bullets are all I load and shoot these days, no problems.

This!

They're great for plinking rounds and shoot well with fairly light loads.
