I just talked to my local dealer (who I just got listed as a GSSF Dealer) and have pretty much decided to have him order a G33 .357 Sig. From everything I've read this is a very good round and since I already have a G26 my current IWB holster will do fine. I also like that I can throw a 9mm Lone Wolf barrel in and shoot cheap ammo at the range and maybe even add a .40 barrel, just because Anyone have any pros/cons about the .357 Sig and the G33 in particular (yes, I know ammo is expensive and hard to find but I reload)? |

I purchased a G32 barrel for my G23. ^^^ i would do something similar to this ^^^ i'm not here to debate the 357 issue, so if you really want the G33 then get it, but chances are you will shoot 40 more than you will 357, so get a G27 barrel for the G33. ETA: FYI: just a barrel swap and you will be good-to-go to shoot 40 out of your 357 Glock. |
Why soo many 357 SIG haters? If you want a good powerful round in a glock sub compact that is your round. I've got the same pistol your after and like it just fine. From what I can tell its got horsepower over the 9mm and 40 SW. Like you said you can always get conversion barrels if you dont like the 357 SIG

the 357 is a fine round. I retired my G23 when the G32 got here, then followed up with the G31 and G33. Haven shot the 33 yet, but I shoot the 32 plenty. It's zippy, reliable as heck, and very accurate.
Handloading too is relatively simple - not sure why folks get bent out of shape about reloading a bottleneck cartridge either. |

Only the .gov can afford to shoot it. |
| I have two S&W M&P's in .357sig one Full size and one Compact. I love the round and am looking into a G33 that is also calling my name, but a nephew had a G19, I berlieve, many years ago that I shot and my only complaint was that the trigger safety pinched me every time I pulled the trigger. Luckily a new indoor range just opened near by that offers rentals and of course they have glocks for rent so I can see if the pinch is still a problem. As far as .357sig ammo it was the only widely available round during the 'ammo shortage'. I can buy 50 rounds of Speer Gold Dots from a semi local gunstore for $45.99. |

The 29 isn't much bigger than the 26/27/33, but it is bigger and heavier.
I'm pretty sure that I'll have my dealer order the G33 early next week...hell, I already picked up the one and only box of .357SIG ammo that Wally World had on the shelves. I figure I'll reload my range ammo, buy a few hundred rounds of carry ammo and pick up a stray box of target ammo or two whenever it shows up on the shelves. The final part of the equation is negotiations with the spousal unit .

Range Report:
I was able to go to the indoor range this morning and rent their Glock 26. The Glock 26 really surprised me. I shot 10 rounds out of it to aquaint myself with the weapon. No finger pinch and my first shot went through the center X at approximately 25 feet. Then I went into comparison tests with the trigger pull and reset against both my M&P's 2 shots at a time. Glock 26, M&P 357C, then M&P 357 utill I had cycled through a magazine in each weapon. I was actually very happy with all three weapons trigger feel. I had been thinking of upgrading the sear in my M&P 357C to an Apex Duty/Carry but after this outing I reassured myself that I like the stock feel. So now I'm going to be putting that money towards a new OD Green Glock 33. All in all a good range trip 90 rounds of 357SIG and 50 Rounds 9MM and a $25 real world comparison test between pistols to determine if I should buy one. Oh and BTW there was a guy at the indoor range to my left shooting a compact Glock .40 S&W and a guy on my right shooting a Springfield XD9 compact. We were all three happily booming away at the tagets while I was shooting the G26 but my first round in the M&P 357C and they both looked at me like and I was like After I was out of 9MM I took a short break. The guy on my right was still there and had transitioned over to a GSG-5 carbine and asked if I wanted to try it. I said sure (what a POS I'm glad I refrained from buying one). So we were talking while he (GSG Guy) was loading up a mag and says: GSG Guy: what was that second gun you were shooting. ME: that was my S&W M&P chamdered in .357SIG.
GSG Guy: That thing puts out a good blast ME: Yeah and those were just 100 grain Frangibles. GSG Guy: Wow you were getting like a foot of fire out of the muzzle. ME: Next time I'll bring out my Rock River AR-15 Pistol with 7" barrel. |

550 foot pounds of energy. (i.e. over five foot tons of energy in each magazine)
Fully supported chamber. (bottle neck design allowed Glock to remove the feedramp notch that is necessary on .40 caliber gunz) Most dependable feed of any round because of bottle neck. (Smaller bullet in bigger hole) Most accurate round available. (read Speer laboratory info about this) Able to defeat glass, metal, and other barriers. (don't know why that is important to me, but it is important to law enforcement) It's my EDC and has been for ten years. I have other Glocks to practice with. |

G29SF FTW i carry a 23 every day and a 27 when i need a smaller pistol. 10mm is next on my list of Glocks to get. for one reason or another i'm not a fan of the sig round. i'm not sure where it comes from but i've held that belief for a good many years. either way it's a Glock so you will be good to go. |

I got in on the Gunbroker $350 M&P 357 deal. I also stumbled into 500 rounds of Fiocchi 124 XTP ammo for $16 a box.
Since I already have M&P's in 9mm and .45, I figured I'd give the 357 SIG a try. I've put a couple hundred rounds through it, and while it does have a little more recoil and significantly more muzzle blast than the 9mm, it's still not bad. It's very accurate too. I can get a factory .40 barrel for $75, and a Storm Lake 9mm barrel for $150. I'd have one gun that can handle 3 common rounds. Seems like a good idea for emergencies. I probably won't get a 9mm barrel, but I am planning to get the .40 barrel since I don't have any other .40 cal pistols, and no plans to get any. But the day could come when .40 cal ammo is all I can find. |
