I'm looking to buy a full size pistol in the next year or two, and I'm at a cross roads...

I'm debating whether I should stick with 9mm and get a model 34, or move up to a larger caliber (most likely a model 21).

The reason I'd like to stick with 9mm is: I already have a 19 and plenty of 17 mags, plus I'm already reloading 9mm.

The reasoning behind moving up in caliber pretty much speaks for it's self.

Does anyone have any links to terminal ballistics of the 9mm out of the 5.3" barrel of the model 34?  Is +P performance out the longer barrel approaching the performance of any of the .45ACP loads?

any ideas would be helpful.

What do you consider "approaching .45 ACP performance".

You know you want to build a custom 10mm longslide!

I do so bad....but I don't really want to add another caliber to my whole system I've got going now.

Its gonna be faster, but not enough to make a big difference.  I run a 34 and love it, but not for the ballistics.  I like the long sight radius and the fact that it doesn't dirty up my Insight that sits on the rail.

Naw, custom longslides are no fun at all.
