Hello I did see a Gen4 the other day at a gun store here in Pa. So they are out now |
|
Who's got the best pricing on them now? I'm going to get one of them. I love my Gen 3, but if the Gen 4 is "better"....
BTW, does anyone know if there will be any compatibility differences between parts in the Gen 4 vs the Gen 3? Ie, Sights, recoil springs, mags, trigger parts, anything? |
|
Local PD just switched to Gen 4 G22's (from Gen 3). The few officers I've asked so far say the new texture is OK on the range but annoying to carry. Rubs on their arms apparently. The SGT wanted to trade me for my Gen 3 tonight.
I bought a Gen 3 G23 last week, after handling their Gen 4's. If I heard correctly, Glock is discontinuing Gen 3 sales to the public. I have to wonder if that is a smart move on their part... ETA: I will say that I did much prefer the new mag release style (just fondling / no range time), I admit I struggle with the Gen 3 at times. |

Maybe not. If they tool up for the Gen. 4 the Gen. 3 might get dumped. |

"If I heard correctly, Glock is discontinuing Gen 3 sales to the public." Meaning, I read that somewhere on this forum in the last week or so. Seems like it was the same post that mentioned the end of the OD Glocks. Too lazy to look for the post, but hopefully its untrue. Now if Glock would put the new mag release on the Gen 3 frame I'd be pretty happy. |

Could be...I've been wrong before, back in 1984 I think. Glad to hear the Gen 3's are staying.... |

I'm wondering when the Glock site will be updated with the Gen 4 pistols. Probably when they get more Gen4's right now I believe it's just the 17, 19 and 22. Don't forget the 31 and 37. hmmm I haven't seen any of those. I was just up at the fun store a few days ago, and they have a TON of glocks the 17, 19, and 22. The 22 and 19 gen4, they said are flying off their shelf. I didn't see any of the others. I picked up the last Gen4 22 they had for $529. |

I have to wonder if that is a smart move on their part. this would be a mistake good thing they aren't doing, they are getting rid of a lot of SKUs but not 3rd gens. The following are being discontinued, all adjustable(except 34 and 35) and night sight guns, all OD green guns and the RTFs are going to become LE only. |
| I was blessed with the opportunity to run a few mags through one of our Firearms Instructors' (at my PD) brand new Gen4 G19 that he brought in for qualification. Grip texture was definitely different. It actually "grips" to the palms compared to the classic soft and smooth feeling of my Gen 3 G19. Also, the dual recoil spring is a good improvement. Recoil with 124gr. American Eagle and Ultramax FMJs was noticeably lighter and sharper (only way I can decribe it) in the Gen 4 compared to the recoil of my Gen 3. A nice little gun, I'll admit, but I already have my Gen 3 and I'm more than satisfied. For those of you interested in a Gen 4 G19, you won't be disappointed. |
| I chose my 3rd gen over the 4th gen.. the 4th is definitely better in the slip department but honestly.. I haven't seen a Glock frame that didn't get worn smooth from regular carry. I'd probably put the same grip tape as I always do on it. I would've taken the 4th gen if it did not have finger grooves. |
