Well I finally bought a G17 yesterday!  It's nice and so far I'm pleased with it.  I was able to get to the range last night and ran 200 rounds through it.  I had one stove-pipe on the very first round but after that it ran fine.  However, its very tight...tighter than my G19 was when it was new.  I could tell it was having trouble ejecting the spent cases and several came right back and hit me in the glasses, one even went down my shirt, OUCH!  I was shooting Remington UMC 115gr but I think this gun, like my USP9c, will need about 500-700 rounds through it before it starts to loosen up.  My USP9c was so tight I had to shoot 124gr through it for the first 700-800 rounds.  The G17 is tight but not that tight.

Overall I'm happy with it and I plan on hitting the NRA range with it this week but I'm going to try and find some Winchester 124gr before I go.

Congrats on the new tupperware!

I've had many Glocks, and carried a 19 when I was a LEO.  I used to be an Armorer too.

Enjoy it!

That's funny I picked up a 17 last night too. Bought a used gen 3 for $467 with night sights. Gun is a joy to shoot. I hate to say being a .45 only guy but I'm starting to grow fond of 9mm. I find I can get much tighter groups out of this 17 than I can my 21.

Weird!

If you look on the base of your grip, you'll notice a hole begind your magazine well. Originally GLOCKs did not have drop free mags and L.E.Os needed  a quick way to remove the magazines so that hole was designed for your finger tip. Now that GLOCK  has drop free mags there really is no need for it. That opening  goes all the way up into your trigger housing. which allows dirt, sand, etc  finds its way up in there. In the back of the full size and compact size you will also notice a small hole. the insert is held into place witha  nipple that locks into the hole. The'll run  $10 or so at any gun shop if they carry them.  I have them on all my of my GLOCKs. here's a link  Back strap insert to pearce's web site. This one will only fit the full size and compact models. If you're using a sub-compact you will need a different insert so that you do not have to alter your mag well.  Lone dist. carries the insert for the sub compacts and here's their link  which also give you a decent picture.Lone Wolf plugs

Picked up a G17 2 weeks ago, with a pre ban mag, mint condition, to go along with my 21 and 29.
The 17 shoots real nice, real easy to shoot, good luck with yours

I bought a G17 a few months ago. My favorite Glock yet between the G23 and G26 I have.
Nice shooter, easy to point and dependable Glock simplicity. Now I can get out to IDPA with a
pistol i'm actually confident and proficient with. The G17 is hands down my favorite. A dedicated
weapon light is a huge plus.

After a thorough cleaning, mine shot fine right out of the box and continues to do so.
My G26 acted up a little bit for the first 100 rounds. I always attributed that to 115gr. Speer
Lawmans. Now I stick to UMC 115gr or Winchester Value packs from Wally World of 115gr.
Never any problems with the G23 from the gitgo.

I always thought the hole in the backstrap was for using a lanyard not a finger rest. Are you sure that channel goes all to the trigger assembly?

Take your glock...  strip the frame and take a peek. Or just  pour some water in the hole and see where it comes out. i wouldn't lie to ya sweetie.

Good deal!  I found some FML mags for a sweet deal a few months ago so I picked up 4.
