I pulled the trigger on my first 9mm handgun a few weeks ago, a g26 for ccw. I know a little about GLOCKS from owning a g21 prior to buying the 26.
Well to make a long story short, I seen a 33 round mag at a local flea market and had extra cash on me and picked it up with out really looking over it. ( I know I'm not going to CC it, but it looked like a lot of fun! ) I've ran about 200 rounds out of it and had two F2F's with this mag. Which was strange because my g21 never let me down. So I started to notice how the GLOCK logo was missing from the back of the mag and on the base plate. Needless to say, I ended up with a non-factory g18 that I paid way too much for. I really hate the idea of passing it on to someone else and have it fail on them, so this is where my question comes in...Are they anyway I can get a factory spring and follower and switch it out? Or should I just keep it for what it is? Thanks. |

Keep it as-is. If you aren't using it for life-and-death shooting (i.e. CCW or duty carry), keep it for funshooting. And if you sell it, do better than the flea-market seller, and let the buyer know it isn't factory; that'll release you from any legal or moral obligation.
A factory spring MAY improve its performance. Or it may be feed lips, geometry of the top of the mag*,etc. *where it narrows from double-stack to a single-stack configuration |

Thanks for the input, Frank.
Why I believe the spring is at fault is that it would hang up down within the magazine while loaded. But I would much rather keep it for myself than pass it to someone and have it jam on them. If anyone is wondering, this magazine looks just like the factory ones but with no GLOCK stamps and the base plate says "+ 33-rds". |
| I had similar issues with some korean mags I picked up (strictly for range use, at the price I figured it was worth a shot and bought 10 of them). I swapped in Glock springs and followers on the ones that were giving me issues and they have been running great ever since. |
