I'm looking to put +2 extensions on a couple of my Glock 17 mags and I like the looks of this one I saw.
I have a couple of questions:
Is this the same +2 that comes attached to the 33 round mags?
It seems like I will also need some sort of insert, such as this one.
I am also curious about if I will need to change the spring in the standard 17 round mag if I attached a +2 extension?
Sorry, I'm new to this. Thanks!

Get the Glock +2.  They work flawlessly.

I have one on a 10 round Glock 26 mag.  Gives me 13 rounds.

Is the Glock factory extension the one seen in the pictures?  I thought it was...

Could I ask where you purchased yours online? Looks great.

It's been a very long time.  I really can't remember.  If you buy off line make sure you get both pieces.  They use to sell as a kit.  Now you have to buy both pieces.

Talk to the sell and make sure you get both.

From topglocks website:

*Glock is now selling the insert separately from the extension. You MUST order the insert to have full functioning with the extension.*

OP, the pic you posted looks like a factory Glock +2.  They usually come with that "insert" you linked to.  It is necessary.

I run factory +2's on several G17 mags now, with no problem whatsoever.  Feed great, passed all the "drop-tests", etc.  Much better than any other, only one's I can recommend.

No, I have not had to change springs with any G17 mags with these, they've all run flawlessly.

I have the same set-up as a ccw.  I still use the stock springs and it works great for me.

I also have the Glock +2 on several G17 mags.  But I installed Wolf +5% springs in those (just in case), and have never had any problems.

is there something like this I could use on G21 mags to get a bit more capacity?

Actually, yes. I recently found some Pearce +2 floorplates for my G21 magazines, so they now pack 15rds. I got 5, one for each of my G21 mags and they have all worked great so far. Only time will tell but I am optimistic.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think these were found on Cheaper Than Dirt's website. They were only 3 or 4 bucks each, but thier shipping is high, so you might want to order some other stuff too, to make it worth the shipping cost. Try doing a search on thier site for "Glock 21", I think that's how I found them.

Those 5 mags and my two Kriss 30 rd mags means 135 rds of .45 goodness in my BOB (and stronger handles on the bag, that much .45 ACP gets heavy).

When ordering the +2 extensions, make sure you are getting the magazine insert as well. I bought some from OMB, and they didn't come with the insert. Seems they sold it separately, and was out of stock.  BTW OMB is selling off all their Glock parts on clearance.

Which ones have a better rep? The Scherer or the Pearce?

You'll find in most cases Pearce has a better rep than Scherer.

are these +2 base plates +1 on 22 mags?

My take on +2's....  I love the +2's but I have seen these extensions blow out and break too many times on the street and on the range. For the range these +2's are fine. But on the the street where your life depends on your firearm - I would not run these.
Now there is a company out there that makes a +2 that is held in place the regular way and then also with a set screw. I can't remember the mfg....
