Quick Q! Does the Gen 4 pistols use the same mags and the older ones?

I think you have to use the new Gen 4 mags with the silver square in front of the magazine.

You can use the older mags as long as you don't reverse the mag release.

Yes. Mags fit both guns. You only need the gen 4 mags if you want to reverse the mag release. Most shooters don't do it anyway.

Additionally, the Gen4s do not utilize that silver square in the front of the mag. The new Gen4 mags have the mag catch notch cut on either side for reversibility.

I did not know that.
I figured they engineered that silver catch for the Gen 4's but I guess not.

That is for the now discontinued ambidextrous catch.
