I am getting my significant other a new carry gun and she is small statured. She likes Glocks a lot and wants a G26. However, her hands are very small and hitting the mag release requires a good deal of rotation of the pistol in her hand. She shoots a 19 very well but wants a 26 for carry.
Here's my question, I know the G26 3rd gen is a great gun and would work fine. But given the fact that she has small hands I would prefer to wait to get a 4th gen G26 if they are coming out. Does anyone know when and if an updated G26 is due out? Thanks..... |
| Thank you for the response. Yes, that is how she does it, i.e. she power strokes the slide. She does this mainly because I want her to learn one manual of arms that will work on the majority of autos. However, her problem is dropping the magazine. I have taught her how to rotate the gun with her support hand as she reaches for a new mag and thus moving the mag release right to her thumb. This works fine and she is proficient at it. The mag release on 4th gens is substantially easier to operate and I was just thinking in her case it might be worth the wait if a 4th gen 26 was only a few months away. |

Yeh, I had thought about the Vicker's extended release. However, I had read awhile back that some people who used it on carry guns would have the gun press into their bodies and unintentionally drop the mag. I really liked the design on the 4th gen blocks. It's not so much that it sticks out more like the Vicker's extended release but rather that it is set further into the grip toward the backstrap.
I will probably do what you suggest, buy it from Tango Down and just play around with it. Thanks. |
