Can anyone speak to:

1) Reliability.  I assume that it would be the same as any other Glock, but you never know.

2) Size compared to other compact options - i.e. subcompact Glocks.  Also, how does it carry compared to a Ruger LCP, Sig P238 or similar sized handguns?

I bought my Glock 36 second hand.  It's been 100% reliable.  Like with any firearm, you'll find stories of people who've had problems.  Show me a gun that hasn't.  Mine shoots like butter and is very accurate with 25 yards even compared to my Glock 21.

It's size is nearly identical to the Glock 19.  You can use many holsters designed for either the G19 or the G36 interchangeably - I know because I have done so, in leather and kydex.

I love mine, daily carry.  It is a .45 and if you don't hold onto it it will stovepipe.  I haven't had it stovepipe on me ever, but it has on other people.  Accurate as anything, can't argue with the thin frame, 7 rounds of .45.

I never had a problem with my G36. Size wise, with the mag inserted, it has the height and length of  the 19/23/32, but it is a little thinner. So it's thinner, but not as small otherwise, than the 26/27/33 subcompacts.

I have a 36 , a 19, and a 20.

I've never had an issue with any of them not going bang every time.

I like the 20 for it's powerful, flat shooting 10mm round, and high capacity as a "bump in the night / nightstand" or "Truck" gun. Not comfortable for me as a concealment pistol.

I like the 19 for its size, ability to carry a lot of rounds, and relatively inexpensive ammunition cost. Easy to conceal for me.

The 36 for me is interchangeable with the 19 as a carry piece. I like the bigger round as a fight stopper - and I don't feel undergunned by having fewer rounds in the pistol.

ETA;  It carries differently than the smaller LCP, etc - I carry a Kel-Tec or S&W J frame in my pocket, in a pocket holster. The G36 I would only carry in a dedicated holter. The thin profile makes for very comfortable IWB carry.  Carrying the 36 in my pocket wouldn't work for me.

G36... I named him Spanky!!  When I fired my Federal HST 230gr +P 's through it....., yeah, you'd understand why.  But I LOVE it!!!

1500 rds through it, 2-hand, strong hand and reaction hand, all and every kind of ammo I can find, and mixed up in the mags, nothing wrong!!  I keep a log of all my guns and all activities with said guns, the G36 is 100% function and fun!!  NOT 99.9%, but 100% function! Well, except for the malfunction drills I set up in it for practice.

As abov posters have said, G19 holsters work just perfectly for it.

I have NOT had the greatest luck with the Scherer +1 mag extensions.  My lovely bride bought me four of them for a gift.  2 of them I removed.  Why you ask?  Because I'd carry the 7-rounder as my backup mag for off-cuty carry and when leaning sideways(noooo, I'm not that fat guys.    )  it would push the mag base off and then clink clink clink clink, out all my rounds from the magazine body.  I stick to the factory G36 mags, no extensions.  I'd rather be down one round than down 7!!

it's an addicting gun to shoot.

Get it, and enjoy life!

I'm up to 800 rounds through my G36 with one FTE using Wolf 230 grain.

I carry it every day, all day in a MTAC Minotaur and it's very comfortable IWB. I was carrying it in a Crossbreed Supertuck but the MTAC is more comfortable IMO.

It's not a fun range gun and most people that I've let shoot it, hand it back after one mag. The serrated trigger is a PITA and the recoil is fairly stout using defense loads.

I love it.

Anyone else chime in on this?  Specifically as it relates to custom leather?

Ditto.  I would like to know if the G36 can fit in a VMII for a G19 without causing fit problems for the G19.

I also don't want part of the G19 VMII to crush if the slide on the G36 is slightly shorter.

Thanks,

Corey
