negative, will not.unfortunately.

No, it will not.

The opening in the end of the gen4 slide is larger than the gen3. It's a no-go.

I'm glad someone asked.  It might prolong the service life of some M-22 and 23s if it did.

couldn't somebody machine it out to fit?

Look at the pics, slide and frame are different to allow bigger assembly. Not enough area on gen3 slide.

No. Also the frames dust cover is different as well.

The question is.....if they make a double spring for the 26/27, why can't someone make one that will fit gen.3 larger pistols, ie. G23/19/22/17. Seems doable.

EDIT...uhhh maybe not.

Anyone else wondering why they decided to fix something that wasn't broken?

Supposedly it is to fix the issues with weapon mounted lights on the .40 caliber Glocks.

This is what I'm thinking also.

.40 Glocks, while good guns, were far from flawless, at least in this regard.

This seems to be an effort to change that.  Only time (and thousands of rnds downrange) will tell.

I hope this is the case, as I may be moving to .40 soon. If I have to move to .40, I plan on giving the Gen4 a try due specifically to the new dual recoil spring setup.

Glad I clicked on this thread.    Just ordered a few for my Gen 3s.

Thanks for posting the pics and info guys!

I don't know it's been posted or not, but GEN4 Glock springs looks like H&K's spring system.

They also look like the recoil system on the Glock Gen3 subcompacts.

So we are going to have to specify old stly recoil spring assemblies for the Gen 1-3 guns?  Bummer.

Does this new spring setup make a softer shooting G17?
Isn't there a mfg out there now with a dual spring setup replacement for older glocks?

I didn't know there was something wrong with the Gen 3 recoil springs.  I just purchased a new Gen 3 G19 today to replace the one I very stupidly sold in 2004.  I couldn't be happier.  I don't think not having the new recoil spring is a big deal.  Having said that, these may turn out to be valid improvements.  Time will tell, but I am happy with my new G19 and I won't sell this one.

According to recent reports, yes.

Maybe, but I for one wouldn't trust it to run.

is there an aftermarket double recoil spring assembly for the older generations?

The Glock 2010 annual magazine said the new spring design was for longer recoil spring life, no mention of pistol service life.

Will the wider dustcover require changing holsters, say if my current G17 has a Raven no-light holster.

How many other brands run almost the same set up?  They went from Polymer (old) to probably metal (new), I don't see how that could break easier.

No.  The dustcover isn't wider one bit, only the cutout for the slide is.

The GEN4 guide rod is still polymer. (I prefer polymer guide rods BTW.)
