I have a G 22 that I have been carrying on duty for 11 years. So handling it on a daily basis has made the surface really smooth.  It looks like I got out the buffing wheel and had at it.  I have had no weapon related problems so I don't want to sell it. What should I do?   Have Glock replace the frame?  I was thinking of using one of those rubber slip over grips by Lyman.

you could send it out to get it stippled. Some people like the look of stippling... IMO it looks like hell but it makes it far easier to grip.. the slide over grip will be a faster easier fix but it depends on what you like better

Stick some skateboard tape on it. If you don't care for the feel of the skateboard tape, put a slip on grip over the tape.

I've got skateboard tape on all my Glocks now. I was using a Hogue slip on grip but it kept sliding around. I finally put some skateboard tape on the  frame and then put the grip back on. It stayed in place fine after that.

If it was my duty gun then I would get it stippled or get a new frame, putting a grip on it is not the answer IMHO because it will move around and I doubt you will want to put skateboard tape on your gun when your using it to save you life everday of the week, that sounds like a band aid rather than a solution.

Skateboard tape works, or you can go to the hardware store and buy the 3M stuff, think it was about $5.00 for a 4"X24" piece.  Adheres extremely well, if the surface is properly cleaned first.

Or Talon grips work good too.TALON grips

personally, i'd have your grip stippled––permenant, no frills, and it will remain textured

i dont like tape or slip on grips simply b/c they tend to move around, fall off, etc during extensive use or over time (yea, yea, i know, just replace it...)

Look up "Decal Grip" .  It costs about 8 bucks and is laser cut to your glock dimensions.  It works fine on my G23.  As the poster noted above, perhaps this is not the best method for a duty gun.  It seems to work great for me though.

I have been amazed at how well this stuff has worked on my g17. Its been on there without even the corners peeling up for almost a year now.

It comes pre-cut and ready to go. I love it.

You MUST clean the frame propely before applying it.

Go to a bike shop and get an old innertube. Cut it to size, wash it real well and put in on the grip, inside of the tube against the grip. Works great, minimal change in grip size and has a "tacky" feel.

I find smoother grips more grippy!  Like a suction cup on a window.   I can see my reflection in the grip of my beater Ruger p95 and its easy to grip.   Don't get smoother than that old beast.

My used G19 is getting smoother like yours, but It's not truely hard to handle.  maybe you ca just rough it up with some sandpapre or something.

I don't recommend anything "slip-on" for this.

Skateboard tape is great, having it permanently stipled would be best.

will stippling void the warranty with Glock if I ever send it back?

I would imagine so.

No, Glock has stated in the past that having the frame reduced or stipled will not void the warranty.

If you can sell it to someone behind enemy lines (a ban state that has some bullshit law) and the sale and transfer is legal.... do it and upgrade to a Gen 4 22..... I love mine. Great grip.
