Ive shot nothing but cheap ball .40 out of my g22 and now im looking too get some  defensive loads any recomendations do glocks eat hallow points well ? Ive had  nothing but problems with my other semi auto pistols feeding hallowpoints. With the high price of ammo are g22s picky  eaters ?

Winchester Rangers and Federal Hydra-Shok work well.

None of my Glocks are finicky about anything.  They will eat what ever you feed them.  I like Golddots or HST personally

Glocks eat JHPs extremely well busboy.  I've never found a variety that won't run and feed reliably out of my G23, and all have hit satisfactorily to point of aim.

So, I pretty much go with whatever a find a good deal on, and is a well-accepted defensive round.  For me, it's Speer GD in 155 grn.  Got some 180 grners too, work and shoot fine.

ETA:  obviously every gun is different, so it's paramount to establish reliability and consistent POA/POI in whatever load you choose.

180gr. Winchester PDX1. That's what the FBI uses in its Glock 22/23's.

Shot everything from 135's to 180's, I would try 155's to 180's of gold dots, hst's or ranger's.

Nope.

OP, do yourself a favor and check out this:

Tons of good info in that sticky.

Personally, I use 165gr Federal Tactical Bonded in my XD40.

Federal HST is really impressive in the testing I've done.

By the way... they are hollow points not hallow.....

You know Guns 'n Shizzle always has good deals on defensive ammo too.  Check out what they've got sometime.

And yeah, might as well hit the funshow tomorrow.  I've found many good deals on even good defensive ammo there.  Just keep lookin' around.

I'm partial to Win Rangers in 9mm.  The 19 and 17 both are 100% with them.  There is also a vendor the frequents the funshows here in Jax that seems to keep a good supply and don't price gouge.

For the .40, I like the Hydra-Shoks.  They feed well in the 23 and 27 plus at the time when I was evaluating what to carry, that's what the FBI was using.  Figured if they liked them they'd be good enough for me.

Find out what your local sheriff uses.  My Sheriff uses Winchester Ranger SXT in either 9mm or 45ACP.  My G22 & G30 love anything I feed it.  My G30 is loaded and on my hip with 230gr Winchester Ranger SXT.

The importance of this is in the event of a civil case, the plaintiff's attorney has a hard time pointing the finger at you when you are using the same thing as the sheriff.  But, if you load your own or use exotic stuff it makes an easier story to make you look bad.

I have a G27 and a G23 - the will feed and shoot every ammo I ever tried.  Just dont shoot lead bullets or "unknown" reloads..

Please cite the precedent.

Thank you.
