I have a Glock 23. I know that you can get a .357sig barrel for it. I have disasembled compleately and installed new parts in several Glocks I am quite framiliar with them. But I was wandering if this is true or BS. I was told by a Glock armor at the suncoast gun show hear in Florida that I can easily convert it to shoot 9mm. He says all you have to do is change the barrel, ejector and the magizine. The locking block will function fine because the only difference betweek the locking block on the 19 and the 23 is the extra pin for strength. He also stated that I would not need to change the extractor. Are the slides on the 23 and the 19 different or is it the same slide with diferent extractor? Is this guy BS or can it be done. If it can be done are the barrels exact fit I would hate to convert it to 9mm just to do something and have it screw up my slide? Can this be done with a Glock 22? Thanks. |
| The parts differences between the 19 (9mm) and the 23 (40) can be seen in the owners manual that accompanies the glock. There is a whole section that clearly illustrates which parts are the same, and conversely different. simply order the appropriate parts for 9mm or .357 sig assuming they are all identical to those contained in whatever model you are converting to, you should have no issues. |
| The base of the two cartridges is different, as the .40/.357 is larger in diameter than the 9mm, so even though the 23 might, in fact, work with the 9mm rounds and be safe I would caution against trusting such a conversion for serious use. For the range, however, go for it. |
I was just looking on the internet. According to a sight called www.glockfaq.com this can be done with a conversion barrel. www.glockmeister.com sells KKM conversion barrels. The barrel is the exact same diameter as the origional barrel but the bore and chamber is cut for different caliber (9mm) glockmeister did not state that you need to change the ejector but glockfaq stated that you did. Just thought it would be cool to be able to shoot 4 calibers with the same gun. 9mm, .40 S&W, .357 Sig, .22 LR. You would just have to be very carefull not to load the wrong ammo with the wrong barrel. CAAAAPOW!!!!!

I had a FAC "NM" 9mm drop in barrel for my G23 that was given to me by a friend for Christmas one year. All I had to do was use a 9mm mag and swap the barrels out and it worked fine with Wolf 9mm FMJ. I was able to hit a torso sized piece of plywood laying on the berm at the range approx 75+yds away and was hitting it after 3 rounds and adjusting...pretty cool little gadget IMO |

FAC "NM" ?? What does that stand for? Where can I find one? I am looking at buying a .45 for carry once I do, I would like to set up my Glock 23 to shoot 9mm for IDPA if it is not agenst the rules to swap calibers. It is a lot cheaper using factory ammo. Thanks. |

SilentHunter- FAC is Federal Armament Corporation I think they have changed to Guns-n-stuff. The NM was for National Match...I put it in quotes because I doubt it was truly a NM product but it was capable of more accuaracy than I am...IIRC the barrels are like $90 |
