I have 2 Glock 20's and just love them
I am looking to maybe put a aftermarket barrel on both of them would like to put a 6" in one and a regular length in the other like them to be drop in but don't know if I should get ported or not on the 6" just mostly for shooting at the range and also maybe start using it for hogs, would like to put hotter loads in it to. any input on barrels and ported would be nice |

Glock, KKM, Lone Wolf, Bar-Sto all make good quality 6" Glock 20 barrels. I wouldn't recommend a ported set, especially for hunting, because you lose some velocity with them. You already know how your G20 shoots with the std barrels, the 6" ones will just give your current ammo a bit more performance because the bullet stays pressurized in the longer barrel 1.4" longer giving it some more velocity. |

+1 on not getting a ported one.
It'll cause some cycling trouble, not often, but it happens...especially when I have a friend 'try it out' as they'll limp wrist it. Its a fine line so, I'd stay with the straight LWD WITHOUT THE FREAKY WOLF ($10 more). But get the SS guide rod/spring set. A must for reliability. NOW: Double Tap Equalizers! |

Thanks for the advice now does it matter for the drop in barrel for a 3rd generation or older model I have a newer one with the rail and a older one without Ask LWD or one of the other suppliers. As for third gen, you should be fine. As for the 'rail'...it has nothing to do with the barrel but, if you have one, you should get an X300/400 and tactical (Tacticool) us your G! |
| I'm not speaking from first-hand experience, but while looking for the same for my G20, I read one customer review on a factory Glock 6" (I think it was on MidwayUSA's site) where the guy said it shot great, but he had excessive case bulging near the head, so reloading the cases wasn't possible. Apparently the chambers on some of the Glock 6ers don't fully support the case. I'd also be worried about a case rupture at that point. Maybe that was due to the ammo he was using, but it's something to look into. |

You forgot Storm Lake. I'm running their 6" .45-10mm conversion right now and haven't had a hiccup (or smiley) yet. No reason to port in my opinion. |
