Jsut wanted to say "hey". took a Glock armorer's school yesterday (12-10-2009) and passed no problem. I went so I could work on them for my department but the instructor... Joel Hodges from "Glock Professional" sold me on the quality, reliability and pretty much everything else about hte guns. Was never a big fan of Glock but im sold..... will be buying my own (only have my department issue at the moment) soon as i can get enough overtime shifts to pick one up

Don't forget that you can purchase a new Glock under the LE program.

And welcome to the dark side!

While never an outright "hater" I have never been particularly interested in Glocks. One of my employees purchased a model 19 during no-tax weekend last month and let me handle it. I will be looking for my own model 19 at the gunshow in Columbia tomorrow.

The thing that really got me was how the instructor put it, (paraphrased) “when the 1911 came out it revolutionized handguns, everybody copied the design and Glock is was the same way” S&W copied to the point of patent infringement (with the sigma) M&P is based off the same principal, Taurus has polymer framed pistols with extremely similar takedown systems (although I haven’t looked at internals” Ruger is switching to polymer frames. Just the quality and durability amaze me. The instructor said they have a Glock at the factory that anyone is allowed to shoot as long as the ammo is logged and it has around 250,000 rnds through it, never been cleaned. They are made with a loose fit like the original 1911’s so they will work guaranteed. Just the quality of the finish….. 99% corrosion resistant! And match battles, it amazes me the pride, and quality put into the product as well as how much they stand behind them.

well you're preachin to the church elders here brother. we seen the same light that delivered use from the evil immatasion Glocks long ago.

i am guessing you have a .40 now, what are you picking up when you get the coin? and how do you like your issue gun?

yes my duty gun is a G22 40cal. im thinking eithe a G17, or G19 but as of yet i havnt decided which. i considered a G23 but my wife is not a big fan of the Glock pistos either and she is definitely NOT a fan of the .40 in a glock. also seeing as its hard to get her out shooting the more fun/plesant is it for her the more im hoping i can get her to do it..... also considered the practical/tactical in 9mm..... but i was worried about concealability and liability (he was carrying a tactical pistol) you know.

I'm very partial to the 17... It feels much better in my hand than the 19 and it's the original Glock, I've got multiple 17's tucked away for a rainy day...

Edited to add... Welcome to the DarkSide...

Congrats. I took the course back in June. I love the GLOCK pistols. Plus I have placed a FEW parts orders directly from GLOCK. My stash is coming along nicely!!!!

I prefer the 17 but I think it depends on what you want to do with it.  For carry a 19 is easier.

EIther way I plan on taking the armorers course in February myself.  I figure it is worth the money.

I fondled a 19 for the first time and I was surprised how different it felt compared to my 17.  I want one, but I gotta get the 34 first.

I think to truly get the full goodness you need a G17, G19, G26, and G34.  All are awesome in their own way.

Right on OP.  They truly are great pistols.

As a now certified armorer, you can help contribute to our forum too!  We've got a few certified armorers here, my friend Unicorn, and BrianNH to name a couple.

Joel Hodges taught the armorer's class I took in November.

He is an incredible instructor and motivational speaker!

Just DO NOT show up late if he is instructing! Some people in my class made that mistake!
