How do you guys slip that little plastic piece off the back of the pistol to clean your extractor and firing pin apparatus??  I could never just slip it off and have dinged up both the plastic and after market metal ones using a screwdriver and hammer.....it's a G19 if that makes a difference.

unload the gun and remove the slide.  insert the end of a small punch at the base of the firing pin hook on the muzzle side, and push down (toward the muzzle) the black plastic sleeve that sheaths the firing pin.  Holding that sleeve down, press the rear plate out carefully, making sure to keep your thumb over the back of the slide as the plate comes off, so that nothing comes flying out.

Yep, that's pretty much it.  The Firing Pin Spacer Sleeve (that plastic part around the Firing Pin) is what holds the Slide Cover Plate in place.

Push it toward the front of the slide................at that point, you'll see that the cover plate comes right off easily, no scratching or damage.

Pay attention that the Spring-Loaded Bearing (on the back of the Extractor Spring) doesn't pop off into oblivion when you move the Cover Plate downward.

Ptooma puts out a great manual on the glock. I bought one, and it is a wealth of knowledge on these pistols, I learned a bunch from it.
