| Anyone have any experience with the different "custom" frame texturing options available? Is there a noticeable improvement in "gripabiliity" over the standard frame texturing? Ordinarily, I avoid doing much at all to my Glocks, as part of their attraction is their simplicity out-of-the-box. However, it seems like there must be something to it, as Glock is even offering their new RTF frame. |

Anyone know of a similar grip texture (to the RTF) that can be put on existing frames? Seems like most Glock "grip jobs" are centered around a girp reduction, which I definitely *don't* want.
Plus, I'm assuming Glock won't upgrade existing frames any time soon...

good video, im waiting for the RTF to come out in g19. |
| The RTF frame looks nice. My advice would be stay away from the dramatic custom treatments. I had a 21 done by Cylinde and Slide. They do nice work but the it was a waste of money. They changed the grip angle too much and the gun was no more shootable than before. |

Is there a noticeable improvement in "gripabiliity" over the standard frame texturing? Yes, but it varies. "Stippling" or "Texturizing" can go from very mild to very aggressive. I had a fairly mild job done to mine but it was still a noticeable improvement over the factory texturing Quoted:
Ordinarily, I avoid doing much at all to my Glocks, as part of their attraction is their simplicity out-of-the-box. For the most part I agree but Glocks are not perfect right out of the box IMO. I believe there are some mods that can make a basic Glock more effective and\or easier to use without affecting it's reliability. Grip mods, if done right are one of those mods Quoted:
However, it seems like there must be something to it, as Glock is even offering their new RTF frame. There is. Try shooting your Glock with your hands sweaty or wet. The need for texturing will become apparent Quoted:

Seems like most Glock "grip jobs" are centered around a girp reduction, which I definitely *don't* want. You can have it texturized without altering the grip. For me, altering the grip was my main goal, having it texturized after the fact was a nice bonus Quoted:
When the next generation comes out after SHOT there will be no need of any after market grip treatments for most people. I doubt that. Hopefully the gen4 frame will eliminate the need for grip reductions but as for texturing, I'm pretty sure some people will still want something more aggressive then what Glock will probably release. The nice part is hopefully people will be able to only texture the replaceable grip panels so if they decide they don't like it or want to sell the gun, they will be able to put it back to stock. ETA - Here's my G19 that I had done...

I had my 21SF pic rail, ambi mag release retextured. The frame was thinned slightly front to back, finger grooves removed and mag well cutouts. I like it. The texture is really grippy. But for some reason I find myself wanting another 21SF with standard rail and standard mag release left plain stock except for XS Big Dots.
I don't see a huge advantage over the standard frame, but it's noticeable. Maybe I'me just really coming to dislike the pic rail and ambi mag release and that's my problem. |
