so a friend of mine moved and gave me his g17... ok so my question is do all glocks devour brass? its really bad after a day of shooting i can literally see little pieces of brass on my arm.. tear down the pistol and it has brass everywhere...

That's not normal at all.

No, not generally.

I'm an avid reloader, and I reload for all my Glocks, in 9mm and .40, so I do pay attention to how my pistols, Glock and otherwise, treat brass as I inspect.  I've not had any issues with excessive brass shavings, nor have I seen this issue with my friends' Glocks.

It sounds to me like it's an indication of a problem somewhere.  What these shavings look like, and where in the gun they present themselves and accumulate, would be something to look at.

Does the pistol function reliably?

ETA:  And are your primer strikes centered?

Pics may be helpful to diagnose problems as we progress here.

But yeah, it's not normal.

yes the pistol functions perfectly, it has never had any malfunctions... the only modification it has is a titanium guide rod..

So, the question would be, is the brass shaving issue excessive?  Do you reload, and aren't happy with the way the brass is coming out?

If the gun runs well, you know, you might be happy with just that.  Myself, if this issue seemed excessive, I'd want to know what the root of the problem was, as I do keep that brass, to be loaded again.......and again........and again..............and again.............

Where exactly are these shavings showing up inside the gun?  What exactly do the cases look like?

Nice lava lamp.

I'm sorry man, those pics are just to blurry for me to see much.....................I wonder if your Ejector is chipped, or bent wrong.  Almost looks like it's not at the right angle, from here.  Hard to say though.

Are you shooting Winchester white box? I get that from WWB but not from the Spear Lawman so I assummed it was the ammo.

I get that when I shoot Speer ammo but when I switch to other brands I may have one or two specs.

Did you try different brands of ammo, different loads, or try the ammo in another pistol???

Sometimes after shooting WWB I notice round yellow pieces of stuff in my glocks.

It's not brass, it's probably crap from the powder.

Indeed, sometimes that stuff IS powder remains.

some are round, and are the crap from powder... but there are shavings, ive been going through my brass, it seems like the extractor is taking a chunk out.. i dont know how to adjust it..

Is the Extractor chipped or anything?  Or worn, maybe?  Extractors are relatively cheap.

Could be.  Have you detail stripped the slide and cleaned it all inside?

+1

Inspect the extractor and extractor spring. Also, trying checking the feedramps
