If I lineup the top of the front site post with the tops of the rear sites the white dot on the front site post is partially obscured by the base of the rear site. I think this is causing the POI to be high on this gun because I lineup the sits with the white dot on the front site in the center of the white U on the rear site. Is this a problem with the sites on my gun, am I not aiming correctly ? It is a G23 with stock standard sites.

For me, I do best to only look at dots on night sights in low light situations. Otherwise I never look at dots or whatever my be on the sights. I simply line up the tops of the sights and the bullet goes where I want if I do my part. Try this for yourself and you should be able to tell if the dot is somewhere it shouldn't be. Or better yet, let someone else try so you know its not just you.

I've always put the dot in the middle of the "U" and been dead-on.

You have to find your own sight picture that works best for you.  And of course make sure you're not moving the pistol when you press the trigger.

Also different loads can have different POI.
