I have a 9mm Glock 34 that is catching the slide release while shooting, and holding the action open. I thought it was my thumb catching it , but it happens shooting left-handed also, with no fingers near the catch. The spring on the slide release felt very weak, so I bent it to provide more force to hold it against the frame, but it still hangs up from time to time. Any ideas?

Most likely the spring on the slide release has slipped into the wrong position.  Remove the trigger pin and remove the slide release.

When reinstalling, make sure the spring is caught under the locking block pin.

Push comes to shove, just replace the catch.
