Im picking up a glock 19 saturday as a cheaper alternative to practicing with my compact XD45 and also a gun to train my mother on for here CCL..
The pistol is stock and i was thinking of getting the extended slide release.. do these just "drop in" or will i need a smith ? also the same question for the 3 lb ghost trigger ? im pretty handy when it comes to firearms but more so for rifles...just wanna make sure id be able to swap out the parts myself but will bring to a smith if need be.

Glocks are easy to work on. The extended slide stop will drop right in. A 3.5lb connector will drop right in. I've no experience with a ghost trigger, but I would assume that it would also drop right in.

Just to make sure I'm doing things right when I detail strip a Glock, I've followed the pictoral instructions here.

Good choice on the 19. It's the best.

The extended slide lock is easy to install pull a pin pop the old one out pop the new one in reinsert pin and bam you are done.  The trigger is just as easy on youtube they have videos of people swapping these parts if you want to see it done.  Just remember if it does not fit do not force it... If you have to force anything something is not aligned or installed right.... take a deep breathe and just take your time.

OK, I will be the one to say it.  I would not put lighter trigger parts on a concealed gun, especially if your mother has no experience carrying Glocks.  The last thing you want is for you mother, or anyone else for that matter, to have a ND during a high-stress situation on a gun with a very light trigger pull.  Yes, I know, the main safety is your finger not being on the trigger, but I have been shooting and carrying Glock for 14+ years, and I have a G34 that I have lightened the trigger on that I still occassionally bump fire.  Granted, this is a competition gun, but that was why I lightened the trigger pull knowing I never had any intentions of using it for a self defense gun.

My $.02, by YMMV...

Dan, run your 19 as is for a bit before deciding to change anything.
