What's the deal with the ambi mag release? Which models have them and is this design compatible with older style mags (say NFML)? Working on picking up a glock sometime soon and want to be prepared.

I don't like the ambi mag release, it does not feel like it holds the mags in as well and may not hold up over time. I can picture my mags falling out at the range or something. I think it's only on the 21.
