whats the big deal with the glock with the Austrian markings? does it make them worth a little more?

no, it's a coolness factor

I'm glad you asked. I've seen a surge of discussions about these here. Wasn't sure what the big deal was.

I've had a Austrian marked Glock 19 since 1989. Does what every other Glock does.Ain't nothing special about it..

As with anything else, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". There seem to be quite a few of these Austrian NPv marked G19s floatin' around and any "collector value" that they might have would be mitigated by the quantity that seem to be coming ashore.

Quite frankly, I see no real value in the markings other than to say that they are Austrian proof markings and if anyone is wiling to pay the extra amount being asked by those few who are attempting to make an extra buck by portraying these G19s as "special", then that is their business.

Regardless of where your Glock is "made", you are getting the same product with the same durability and quality. Why pay more than you have to?

so the glocks with the markings made in Austria? where are the other glocks made? are they only stamped on certain glock models?

honestly it makes no difference to me if it has markings on it. i just want the thing to function properly. .

I don't understand how it could NOT increase the value.  What about a K98 with the swastika on it?  That most certainly increases the value.  I think the austrian markings, in time, will increase the value.

I think the k98 with swastikas on them are more valuable because of the history associated with the marking.  Maybe austrian proof marks on current g19s will reflect this part of history that reflects obama induced hysteria...

All Glocks are made in Austria.  Parts are sent to the US and assembled in Smyrna GA for distribution to the US market.  Apparently there are plans to have Glocks made in the US, but that has not happened yet.

I doubt you'll ever see a complete "Made in the USA" Glock.  Last I heard, the EPA has the tenifer coating on the top 10 band chemicals in the U.S., something about 3 eyed kids or something....
