I am thinking about either a G19 or a G21.  The problem I have is the shortage of 45 auto ammo in my area, I have plenty of 9mm for now, but not much 45.  What do you guys think?

Sound like the 19 would work better for you. I prefer the 21.

I'm in the same boat right now, but I just put money down on a g19 w/ night sights and extra mag from cabelas was 649.99 but they had a 25.00 dollar off coupon so I got it for 624      sold my xd-40.

If I could only own two handguns they would be a Glock 19 and 34.

+1.  No gun owner should be without a G-19. Even though I like my 34 better.  I do have a 19.

I could not possibly agree more.

G=19,
Out of curiosity, have you held both and have no problems with the 21's size?

No, I haven't held either, but will tonight after work.

G-19.

Great shooter, great CCW gun, and 9mm is the cheapest of the major calibers to practice with.

19 unless you have really large hands.

G19.
The epitome of what Glock is.

Find a JHP load that you like, and don't look back.

G21
If the grip is too much, try a 21SF.

It kicks less than the 19 and with octagonal rifling it seems to be more accurate than the 19.

The only bad thing about the .45, is the cost of ammo compaired to 9mm.

It must be, and is, your goal to obtain at least 1 of each caliber.

G21SF if it's for home defense

YES.

DO IT.

BAR NONE - the best handgun I've ever owned.
I use mine as a carry piece and I'm a skinny bitch. So I almost guarentee you could also.

In that case, I'd go with the 19.
Cheaper ammo and you can use G17 mags for extended capacity.

get the 19, capacity, compactness, accuracy, reliability, ammo abundance....etc etc.....

not dogging the 21 but,

I own both.

I love my G21, I use it for my night stand gun, and IDPA.
It's a fantastic gun
For carry I bought a G30, great gun but a little on the thick side.. and my holster holds it a little to high for me... I gotta fix that...

The G19 is about the same size with the extended 10rd mag as the G30 but as slim as the G36 (Single stack .45acp)

It's to hard of a decision, just get both and be done.

Decision made, I liked the G21 but my hands are too small for it so I got the 19.

Get both if you can afford it. I started out with a G21 and later on bought a G17 because of the inexpensive ammo.

You'll love the G19!!! But, you'll end up buying another Glock, or 2, or 3, or 4.

I had a 21 & 30, both nice guns, but never felt comfortable in my sm/md hands.

A guy at work just bought a G30SF, it felt good & pointed good.

I have 2-G19's, G23C, G27, G32C and G35. I've had 2-17's, another 19, 30 and 33. If I could only own one, it would be the G19.

Even though I'm a horsepower freak when it comes to handguns. If forced to own only one handgun it would be a G19.
Go ahead and buy up magazines for the ones you plan on buying later.
