i just picked up a 17L and need some recommendations on a holster. i already own a 34 and the 17L is a bit too long for the 34's holster. im looking for a belt holster preferably a pancake style and am indifferent to leather v/s synthetic. what say the masses?

What, is the holster you have for the 34 not open muzzle?  Any holster for G17/34 that is open muzzle will work for it.  Blade-Tech comes to mind, as well as the Galco Combatmaster, or a Bianchi 3-slot pancake style.  That is, if you don't mind the muzzle sticking out a bit.

Finding one truly long enough to cover the muzzle on the 17L might be kinda tough though.  I'd suggest perusing the sites of the popular makers.  Those links are in Carry Issues or Handgun Discussions, I believe.

ETA:  holster maker links page

One o' these is bound ta make one long enough specifically for the 17L.

Blade Tech is the only one I've seen that makes a dedicated holster for the 17L, the Sting Ray IIRC.

I believe Glock made a holster for the 17L, but that wouldn't be a pancake style.
