| So I've got a few glocks (mostly 17s and 19s) and thought that I'd customize one. Thinking about nickel plating the slide and so forth. Looking for ideas and inspiration. If you would be so kind post some pics of your custom models along with specs and vendors that you used. Thanks. |
Someone called???![]() You can go totally nuts customizing one but I'd recommend against it if you plan on using it for HD, CCW, etc. I did with this one but I have both a G22 (HD) and G23 (CCW) that are stock except for sights and a trigger job. You can change slides, sights, triggers, controls, and modify the grips. You can add magwells, mag extensions, optical sights, ported barrels, a compensator, and on and on. My G20/21L pictured above started out as a stock G21 (.45acp) and after a ton of modifications, its now a G20/21L. Yep, that's right; it shoots both .45acp and 10mm with just a barrel and mag change. As a developer of the longslides I've spent a bunch of $$ on this range toy currently configured as a USPAS Limited class shooter. Its been fun and if you are interested in playing, I'd recommend that you check out Lone Wolf. They have everything you could possibly want in Glock accessories and modifications. You can go mild or wild. For example, here is a listing of the changes/modifications on this weapon. Glock G20/21L (Developed 10/04 thru 1/05): Sight, LWD 3.5# Connector, +10% Mag Springs, Hogue HandAll™, Pro Trigger Job, and +2 Mag Bases |

This is what I'll be running in USPSA Limited this year. Its not done yet. I have been thinking about getting a fiber optic front sight. Any suggestions on what else to do?

It tends to make you think you have a good sight picture because your eyes and brain see the FO in the notch and tell you to pull the trigger. Travis Tomasie recommends using a plain front, I know this because I shoot with his dad Squire on occasion and noticed that his Limited gun the FO got replaced with a plain front and asked why. He said Travis told him that he would have better results. Squire says it makes him actually pay attention to his sight alignment and leads to better scores. I have a FO in my G20, but I am going to replace it soon. My G17 production gun had Dawson plain fronts, non-adjustable rear, they make for a great sight picture. |
