I was at my local Gunshow where I fondled a G21.  Much to my surprise, I found that my big fat fingers didn't line up with the finger grooves very well at all.  In fact I thought it would uncomfortable to shoot.

I know the finger grooves are a fairly recent development on stock Glocks. How should I ask for a Glock without finger grooves in the grip?  Should I be looking for a generation of Glocks? Should I be asking for glaocks made before a certain date?

ask for a 2nd generation Glock.  you will however lose the light rail too.

There technically were no "First Generation" M21 Glocks as those were all G17's only (I think...certainly all were 9mm only). IIRC even the G19 was "Second Generation"...that is they will have the straight but checkered front gripstrap. This is the "older" generation of G21 you are looking for. Don't worry about confusing the issue here, just tell whoever you are dealing with that you do not want the finger grooves on your G21...there will be factory "refurbs" available at reasonable prices from time to time, and that is what I would look for unless I was certain about the owner and condition of the used gun.

Those factory refurbs are the way to go, If you find a dealer that doesnt steal the high caps out of them...

They don't look new, but usually have a very low amount of usage, just carried in a holster and banged around a little...

Mine had a problem and Glock replaced everything in the gun except the frame slide and barrel...Free of charge...
