I have a Beretta 92G Vertec with 2-20 round Mcgar (M9) mags and 3 Beretta 17 round mags. I am into IDPA and Glocks (19,22,34,36) so I don't really shoot the Beretta at all. I am thinking of selling the Beretta to purchase a Glock 23 or a Kahr PM9.

This is the problem:

Given our new pres. and the likeliness of a ban of some sort I may want to keep the Beretta.

The Beretta has 5 Hi-cap mags and the slide action cuts like butter.

Question:

Should I keep it or sell it and WHY??????

Keep it.

I wouldn't get rid of ANYTHING right now.

sell the G36 if you are getting a G23.  G36 = 6 rounds, CCW.  What is the 23 for then?  Same for PM9, if for CCW then when do you use the 36

I'm not really into keeping guns just for the sake of keeping guns. If you don't use it and don't plan to use it and selling it will get you the money for a gun you will actually use then sell it. The only time I would worry about it is if it's some rare gun that you might not be able to get later if you change your mind.

I wouldn't worry about some potential AWB. Even if one happens, it's not likely to effect pistols much other then full capacity mag will be harder\more expensive to buy but so what? You have that Beretta now and don't shoot it so why would that change later? If your really worried about it, sell the gun with only 2 mags and keep the other 3.

I concur with not keeping just for keeping's sake.  Yeah, if I only had one or two guns right now, no way would I sell.  However, selling to upgrade or standardize makes a lot of sense.  I like to think of it as gaining a new member of the shooting family or getting something into the hands of someone in need.  That being said, the gun in the safe is always better than the one on order or lay away.

My 2 cents.

I had a Beretta 96, but I traded it at a gunshow for an Uberti .45 Colt replica.  It was a good deal for me since we can't buy replicas in MA since they are not "compliant".  I really didn't use the Beretta, so I didn't mind letting it go.  I hate the small safety on them, too.

I thought about picking up another LEO trade-in Beretta 96 again, since I have 30+ mags for it.  Then, I changed my mind.  I'm just going to sell the mags instead, and buy mags for pistols that I own now and actually use.  If I got another Beretta, it would sit around and get used about as much as my last one did.

I'm going through the same decision as you are right now about my Glock 21.  I really don't use it that much, since, even though I have huge hands, the grip just doesn't feel good to me.  But, the M&P feels great.  Normally, I'd just sell or trade the G21 to get an M&P, knowing I could replace the G21 anytime.  But with Obama and the Dems in Congress in control, a future semi-auto ban concerns me.  I've been trying to decide for a few days now whether I should let the G21 go to get the M&P45 or just keep the G21.  I'd probably use the M&P a lot more, so I'm leaning towards that decision now.  But, I could change my mind 10 times before tomorrow.  We'll see.  If you see it on the EE tomorrow, you'll know I finally made up my mind!

The thing about the vertec that the guys I know who IDPS with it is the grip angle, more like a 1911 right?  Seems like going back and forth to it from glocks would get a little hard, not to mention the triggers.

you might regret selling the barretta later.

                                                      my 2 cents
