Anyone else notice any excessive wear on the mag catch area of the Glock magazine? Mine are starting to wear, chewed up slightly. Must be common?

Yeah, on the mag body, around the catch area.

Some wear here is normal.  Show us a pic maybe...............but it sounds normal.

Do alot of drills with them, they'll show some wear in this area.  Some of mine do.  But I haven't had any issues at all, really, with any of my factory mags.  It sounds to me like nothing to worry about.

My mag catches get a little bit chewed up after I've used them quite a few times, but it's only a little bit of rounding on the bottom edge from being slammed into the mag catch when i change mags quickly. Luckily, the bottom edge could be completely rounded off and not effect the mag's retention.

Is your wear on the bottom edge or top edge of the mag catch? If it's the bottom edge, don't give it any worry. Your Glock is a tool, not a work of art, so it doesn't matter what the parts look like so long as they function the right way every time.

If you're worried about it, double the amount of mags that you use when you go to the range. You'll change each mag half as many times and they will wear half as quickly.

Thanks. The wear is on the top edge.

The upper edges of the magazine catch on all of my Glock magazines show this wear, too.

I usually remove the small burr from the upper edge of the mag catch the first time that it occurs with one of my wife's ultrafine emory boards taking care not to remove anything other than the burr itself. If it occurs again, it is usually much less significant than the first time that it appeared and seems to have sort of a "self-limiting" effect since it gets no worse after that.

Of course, I have "range" magazines and "service" magazines for my Glocks, so the "range" magazines suck up a lot of the abuse and wear that the "service" magazines are never subject to. Both sets still work just fine after many years of hard use.

In short, don't sweat it.
