what are ur guys thoughts on this gun? i am thinking about getting this or a xd compact in 45 for ccw. i have a fullsize xd right now but looking for something smaller but still in 45. i am intrested in all pros and cons of this gun.

http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=13&t=69307 http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=13&t=67583http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=13&t=67461 http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=13&t=68391 http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=4&t=68434 http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=13&t=68409 btw a xd45c and a G30, i'd take the Glock hands down over the XD series for a defensive firearm...YMMV FWIW: pros on the G30 -takes hi-cap G21 spares -11 rnds of .45acp in a very concealable package -glock attributes: cost effectiveness (in parts, mags, acc.), RELIABILITY, durablity, and longevity -very accurate and smooth shooter in this platform "cons" -wider and bulkier vs the XDc or a compact G19/23 -trigger: glock trigger pull gets some use to, contour and pull "suck" for those who like good triggers -on the std G30, the grip width was uncomfortable for some, but imo, the SF fits a LOT better as to the XD (i have not owned the XD45c, but the XD9, shot others, etc) pros: -initial ergos on the XD series "fits" most users better vs a glock (grip angle, size, etc)...that said many become accustomed to whatever grip they opt for -size and compactness...in some areas, the XD is more "compact" vs similar sized glocks 'cons' -XD triggers are nicer physically, but the reset sucks (vs a glock), its mushy and not too great overall -XD reliability: you will find a LOT of XD users happy with thier XDs and very satisfied with thier reliability...h/w, btw glocks and XDs in real heavy use (training, matches, etc), XDs go down or have way more reliability problems vs glocks....YMMV -parts, longevity, and durability: SA offers great CS backing (as does glock), but the XD is alittle more complicated to do armory work on AND parts availability is limited to a few aftermarket sources -mags: the weakest part of the XD series imo are the mags...leading to most of the reliabiltiy problems in the field––YMMV |
