I have a Glock 19 and may get the G26 for my wife's CCW. I want to stock up on parts that are common to fail on the Glock through continually pratice use, we do alot of range shooting. Could you all give me a list parts that I should get to keep my Glocks working? Thanks in advance.

Bill-
I just finished a Glock Armorer's course a few weeks ago.  If it were me, I'd probably pick up a few of the following that is specific to the G19 & G26...

Extractor depressor plunger spring
Firing pin safety spring
Firing pin spring
Trigger spring
A couple of spring cups
spring loaded bearing
locking block pin; trigger pin & trigger mechanism housing pin

other parts that I'd put into an inventory (for just in case...)

Trigger with trigger bar
ejector
connector
extra firing pin

Brownells has these parts in the back of their catalog.

I agree with the above poster, these parts don't break.  Mostly, they are parts that are easily lost when detail stripping the pistol.

I concluded from the school, that the only part that might break is the trigger spring because the instructor demonstrated a way to make the pistol operate even if this spring is broke...

I hope this helps.  YMMV

cjklekar posted a comprehensive list!

I have a ton of spare parts on hand...probably too much but when I go to a class I don't want to flush a $700+ weekend down the drain because of a $2 part. Of course I always have multiple Glocks on hand but still...better to be safe than sorry.

Thank you for the reply and list of common parts that I should have on hand.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the slide lock spring.

It's very cheap, and IMO the most common part to fail on a Glock, if any part is going to fail.

Though I haven't heard of them failing often on a G19 or G26,  Other models such as the G30 seem to have breakage of this part more often.

From what I've read, when it fails, you can usually continue shooting, but once you pull the trigger on an empty chamber, the slide will often fall off.

I would also add a locking block to your list.

Don't forget a couple recoil springs!

I've seen people crack plastic off of the spring, crack the whole end, actually break the spring....while disassembling/reassembling.  Should let the monkey do it, I guess :)

I'd stick to parts that were mentioned before, maybe add some mag floorplates, a follower or two...and perhaps a front sight and pin.  (I've lost a few of the factory sights)

With the exception of spare fireing pins, I have extras of all the internal parts for both my Glock 23 and 34. I will most likely not need any of them, but if there's a run on Glock parts like AR15 parts,I want to be prepaired.

Or just buy a spare Glock.

Good thread - I was about to post the same question. I'll be ordering from Brownells soon and want to cover all my bases in case something does fail on my Glock and parts become scarce. Unlike AR's, collecting spare parts isn't the route to building another gun clandestinely. I guess you could if you were really motivated though.

+1

This is a big one but moreso a problem with the older style ones that were like a paper clip in the middle.

The slide lock spring is the only part I have ever had fail on a Glock.  It happened with my Glock 39.  One phone call to Glock and they mailed me a new spring, free of charge.  Very easy to fix.
