What has been your duration of loaded glock mags and fuction properly? Do they store long term as do ar15 mags ? I have 3 loaded for 12 months checked fuction today and AOK! |
|
Yes they will last for years fully loaded. As I'm sure you're aware, it's not being compressed that wears out the springs, it's the CYCLES of compression, how many times you load/unload/shoot through them. I personally intentionally left 2 15 rnd .40 cal mags loaded, untouched, with "duty" ammo for a little over 2 years. Decided to shoot that stuff off a couple of months ago--they ran fine. All my Glock mags stay loaded. |

Everybody has a different opinion. Mine is just the opposite. I rotate my mags. Here is an interesting article on the subject.Mag care It boils down to personal preference. YMMV |

Funny...he sneaks in the plug for HK's steel mags I've had AR mags, both Magpuls and USGIs loaded for the past year, and went out and shot a couple of them...worked fine. My Glock mags generally stay loaded, I choose to download by one for ease in seating the magazine, but wouldn't hesitate to leave them loaded to capacity...and I haven't had problems with those either. Personally, I'd rather have mags ready to go when I need them, than have to stuff them while bullets fly at me. |
I trust the metallurgical experts when it comes to this. Mine stay loaded. I've got 75+ pistol mags and never had a problem. |
Exactly. There have been many cases of mags that were loaded even 40 years ago shot through with no hiccup. |
